I'd not heard of this before:
Niigata Prefecture, Japan, has thought of a novel way to use the straw left over from their rice harvest. A “wara” or rice-straw festival is held every August 31st, where local artists build elaborate straw sculptures over wooden frames. The frames allow the statues to be larger and let spectators interact with them.

I am shamed by your erudite summer readings, W. For some reason or other, this summer I am driven to read through a pile of free mysteries from Kobo. Some are well written and clever; others haven't carried me past the first chapter. I love mysteries, but it's always been in the genre of historic mysteries, especially set in ancient and medieval times. This is a new venue for me. When I finish, though, I'm going back to the past. ;)

Your post should be in another thread . Anyway, I've also read two mysteries this last month, so you're not alone.

Sorry. I think I make that mistake because I open the links from my email and don't always delete the tabs as soon as I read them. I end up answering a post from one comment under another in an entirely different thread.

I will start deleting the tabs as soon as I read the posts.

I'm not into fashion (Fran the frump!), but these dresses are fabulous. They would make awesome book covers! If anyone is looking for a fantasy story inspiration...
