This is not exhaustive. I'll keep adding to it as we work through challenges. Please let me know if you'd like to volunteer and have your name added to the list. Your turn will come, so you might as well look noble about it.

I'll add dates* and titles and authors as they come. At first, I'll start off with my list of names. No weaselling out. No silly excuses about "but my tastes are so different that no one will like the books I choose". The whole point of the reading challenge is to challenge us to read outside our comfort zones. So, pick a book you have on your to-read pile. Or a book you've read and thought was great, and would like to share. Or nominate a book you read and thought was a bit odd and you'd like to see a range of responses to it and a chance to discuss it with others. Or, if you're Wildlx, you can pick a book to make us all suffer.

Book Pickers:

1) Wildlx Footnotes to Sex
2) Tanner The World Unseen
3) Proof Uncross My Heart by Andrews and Austin.
4) Sue Renegade by Cheyne Curry
5) Jess Gotta Find Me An Angel by Brenda Brooks
6) La Gringa Beggar of Love by Lee Lynch
7) HH James Fairfax by Jane Austen and Adam Campan (Norilana Books)
8) NurseJo
9) Deej Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg
10) Elaine Ammonite by Nicola Griffith

*Dates: since we're flexible about the length of challenges and the gaps between, there's no way I'm attempting to put them in ahead of time.

Since we're on a lesbian fiction forum, the one thing we all have in common is enjoyment from lesbian fiction. However, since there's no hard and fast rule about what that is, I think we have some leeway. Books with lesbians as main characters are great, but I personally think we have some wiggle room.

Anyone else with thoughts on this?

I will reiterate, however, that when you pick a book you have to bear in mind that it has to be easily available to everyone--that is, no hard to find books and no out of print books. To make this manageable, we have to have books that all members, no matter where they live, can get hold of the challenge book in a timely manner. Oh, yes, and nothing horrendously expensive, please. :)

Baker wrote:Sue, I know we rag you mercilessly about your time-travelling westerns, but I sincerely wouldn't mind if you do suggest one as the challenge book. After all, the reason we call this a reading challenge is to expose us to books we might not otherwise read.

That goes for everyone. Don't prejudge anyone else's responses. Pick a book you'd like us to read and discuss. You can have your own reasons for doing that, and that is perfectly fine. And please don't fret :megan: that no one else will like it. Wildlx has kindly demonstrated that this is perfectly OK. :)

On the subject of the types of book. I hear you say you only want lesfic, Sue. How do others feel?

I suppose, too, if someone is unsure if a book they choose is suitable, you could always make a post and ask for opinions. Yes?
