Amazon marketplace fee increase angers traders

third-party sellers who provide products through the Amazon website - will pay 12% of the sale price of electronic accessories such as USB sticks and memory cards from 4 April. The current rate is 7%.

Those who sell car accessories will see their fee rate increase from 12 to 15%.

More problematic, in fact, is this: Amazon charges self-published authors 65% of the sales price.

Exactly, Proof. The bigger they get, the more they can afford to buy out everyone else, and the more they can charge. And the less they can pay their employees and suppliers. Oh, yes, and as a global entity they can pay less and less tax to any country to help fund their share of infrastructure. When I think of Amazon, I think of a parasite. They suck the life out of their host, without any long-term thought for what will happen to them when they've drunk the last drop.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to when my book goes from earning 70% on KDP Select to 35%. Considering all they have to do is process payment and deliver, I think 70% is too low, but I needed to get an alternate cash flow going so I went for it. 35% though is more than a tad insulting.
