Nice fangs, Bakey! Nice strap-on, Proof! You go, girls! Now say something, for Pete's sake. You can boink and then go suck someone's blood after you provide me with at least 200 words of dialogue. And no boring bits, or Cecilia Tan will take her red pen to you.

I've been reading book after book on the subject, eight just in the past two weeks and I have found "The First Five Pages" by : Noah Lukeman to be really helpful.

Not heard of it. I'll have to look it up.

I found "Beginnings, Middles and Ends" to be great. Never read much of it because I read so far and go "OH!" and get back to writing.

Yep, I've heard good things about that book. Rumour is that he wanted to entitle it "The First Five Paragraphs" but he figured that'd be too depressing for aspiring authors!

I'm going to have to look that one up too, I do that too but I'm just starting my first novel (three chaps in) and I'm super nervous so i find that reading them and then saying 'hey I've done that!' makes me a bit calmer lol.

Yeah I agree i was pretty scared by the first five pages glad it wasn't paragraphs otherwise I might have thrown in the towel all together lol. It's good but dose make you realize some hard truths.
