Khimairal Ink is a literary magazine dedicated to the best in both genre and mainstream lesbian fiction. The protagonist must be a lesbian and the story must be character-driven, well written, and well plotted. Let your imagination soar and send us only your best writing.

We accept literary, science fiction, fantasy, slipstream, mystery, adventure, and supernatural stories. We're not interested in horror, erotica, strong sexual situations, over-used profanity, or extreme violence. Dark stories, if well-written, are welcome but the stories we most enjoy are positive, thought-provoking, and clever.

We are looking for original unpublished stories but will also consider previously published stories and short excerpts from novels if the excerpts stand on their own. We don't want to see stories that are widely available on the Internet, but will consider stories previously published in e-zines. No simultaneous submissions please.

Length: Up to 8000 words
Payment: $5.00 a story for first electronic rights for three months. Submission procedure: email to k-inksubmissions@bedazzledink.com

Rainbow Rumpus (online magazine)
Seeking: fiction and poetry for children of GLBT-parents
Length: 800-2,500 words (for 4-10 year olds); up to 5,000 words (11-14 year olds).
Payment: minimum $15; 3 cents per word for >1000 words; 5 cents per word for <1000 words
Buys: first web rights; may also request print anthology rights and audio recording rights
Specifics:

* celebrates the diversity of LGBT-headed families and their communities
* of high quality, as judged by the publisher or editorial staff
* primarily seeking work that does not focus on children being teased about their families, and where family structure is not the primary plot point. We publish a variety of genres and will consider serialized work. Stories featuring families of colour and mixed-race families are particularly welcome.

Parabola: a magazine about tradition, myth, the world, and life (not a lesbian or glbt magazine, but may be of interest to some authors here; I'm not perfectly sure what they're after but perhaps experts in mythology, paganism, wiccan etc might have something to offer this magazine)

Seeking: articles, essays, translations; extended reviews of books, exhibits, performances; accepts short fiction rarely; does not accept poetry
Length: articles 1000-3000 words; reviews 500 words; stories 500 - 1500 words
Theme: in general, the exploration of the quest for meaning as it is expressed in the world's myths, symbols, and religious traditions, with particular emphasis on the relationship between this store of wisdom and our modern life. Each issue is themed; check guidelines or email the editor for more info
Payment: varies -- articles, $150-$400; reviews, $75; pays on publication
Buys: e- and print rights for a single issue.
Submit: must query first! e-queries accepted
Deadline: ongoing; if query accepted, author will be given a deadline for that piece, but this does not guarantee acceptance
