Forum Themes

Postby PaulaO » 27 Apr 2012, 16:03

I keep meaning to do this and finally got around to it due to the forum move.

You can change the way the forum looks by choosing a theme (sometimes called Style). Go to the User Control Panel. The link for it will depend on the theme you are using but it should always say "User Control Panel".

Then look under "Board Preferences" for "Global Settings". From there, select the style/theme you want and click the "Submit" button.

For the most part, it is all about the look you want. Sometimes, it will come down to the icons. Such as the one that indicates there are unread posts. Some things will be different such as location of buttons and links. I noticed that the two buttons for the Global Settings--submit and reset--kept switching places.

Being the nerdy geek that I am, I selected each one and took a screenshot. Click each one to see a full version.

I use Subsilver 2 as it has simplier icons that are easier for me to see. The default is a little too busy for me.

And yeah, holy cow, that purple one made me jump when I reloaded the screen!

I was using Black one, until I realized how it doesn't contain all the smilies. So I went over to that Avalon Blue.

Thanks for posting those, Paula. I've experimented at times and you can't preview it and I've had a few shocks. I've stuck with the conservative Subsilver 2.

I use the Vintage Brown because it cuts the glare. Mine never changed with the switch to the new server. I wonder why some of them did.

I changed the default, so those not using the default weren't affected.
