I didn't win, but the winner is an old friend, and I'm very glad for her. I've had my turn. It turns out that another acquaintance was one of the judges, although she didn't let on while we were hanging out ahead of time. Afterward she told us that the judges had such a hard time choosing among the four finalists that the final results, after a series of votes, were only tiny fractions apart.

What Elaine said. Did you have a good time in NY and at the ceremony?

Still in NY, Baker. Having a good time. One reading last night and another one in an hour and a half. This morning I forayed far north into Fort Tryon Park and The Cloisters (Medieval museum) to enjoy the art and the gardens, so now I'm resting my feet before heading south to the East Village for the reading.
