Lambda Award Finalists

They've just posted the Lambda Literary Award Finalist list. I'm...speechless. (But maybe I'd better make up a speech just in case. or would that jinx things?)

So many excellent books that I thought should make it didn't, though. The Lambda judges work in mysterious ways.

Fran, if you'll come and give the speech (on the off chance that I'll need one) you can say anything at all.

Hi, I'm Sacchi. Or Connie. or Fran. I can't remember which of us you're giving this award to. Sacchi, I think?

I am honored to receive this award and -- Ow!

Never mind Sacchi. I'm Fran, and I know you'd rather listen to me. Anyhow. I am so pleased that the Lambda Literary Society has finally stopped handing its awards to crappy books full of anatomical impossibilities and self indulgent rambling written by talentless hacks. It's about time they realised true genius and made some attempt to justify their exis--

Fran! Shut up! Sorry, folks. This is Sacchi. Really. It is. I am. And I'm terribly embarrassed. And I am very honoured to get this award. It's the most prestigous--

Oh, Sacch, stop being such a greaser. It's not like it's an award for real fiction.

Connie, you shut up, too. Stop lording it over me. Science fiction is not more intellectually challenging than erotica. And you can erase the words 'smut' and 'porn' from your vocabulary, thank you very much.

Yeah, Connie, shut up! Cuz sex sells. Have you ever heard a marketing guru raving about how spaceships sell? No. What could be better than awesome lesbian sex? The Lammy folks get that. Good on 'em.

FRAN, CONNIE, SHUT THE FUCK UP! Really, I am so terribly, terribly sorry. I promise it's just me from now on. Sacchi. No more Fran or Connie. It was very stupid of me to invite them to come. Oops, did I say come?

Fran, when I said "come and give the speech," I actually meant you had speak it aloud in NY at the awards ceremony, not just get yourself off on making it up. But that's okay, carry on.
